IBIT Exit & Mid-Size Gains

Quick summary

  • Bitcoin trades around 80,831 dollars, 36 percent below its all-time high price

  • US spot Bitcoin ETFs see second straight net outflow, led by IBIT withdrawals

  • Mid-size one to one hundred BTC bands gain coins, smallest and largest bands shrink

  • Bitcoin price sits near three-day average, below key daily moving averages with compressed volatility

Bitcoin trades at $80,831 at about 05:00 UTC on October 24, 2026. That is 36% below its $126,156 all-time high and 0.33% below the October 23 close of $81,096. With the selloff covered in the October 23 Read on Bitcoin’s 60% share and the ETF reversal. Spot ETFs posted a second net outflow on October 23, led by IBIT, while CryptoQuant’s supply data shows coins still gathering in the 1 to 100 BTC range.

ETF Flows: IBIT Leads a Smaller Second Exit

  • IBIT led the exit: IBIT lost $110.3M and FBTC $31.8M, while MSBT added $4.2M and ARKB and GBTC were flat. The $137.9M net outflow is about a fifth of the $635.6M recorded on October 22.

  • The week still leans on IBIT: IBIT holds +$565.7M across the five days, more than the +$301.2M all-fund total, while FBTC, ARKB and GBTC sit negative.

  • Below the slower pace: The five days averaged about $60.2M each, a Coinjuice calculation. That compares with roughly $86M a day from July 1 through October 21 in SoSoValue data cited by CoinDesk.

  • October deeper in the red: The month stood at −$175.6M through October 22.

  • Outside the funds: The Smarter Web Company announced on October 23 that it had bought 20 BTC at an average of £61,733 per coin, taking its holdings to 2,850 BTC, per its RNS announcement. The price paid sits below the company’s reported net average cost of £81,837 per coin.

Interpretation: The largest fund turned from the main buyer of the week to the main seller of the day, while the rest of the funds were close to flat. STS Digital’s Jeff Anderson told The Block the firm is watching $80K and $86K, the edges of the recent channel.

Bitcoin Supply by Coin Size: The 1 to 100 BTC Bands Keep Growing

Source: CryptoQuant, UTXO supply distribution through October 23, 2026, with thanks to CryptoQuant for the data. Bands measure the size of individual coin chunks, not wallet or entity balances. The first row combines the bands below 0.01 BTC, and the last row combines everything above 10,000 BTC. 24h compares with October 22, 7 days with October 16 and 30 days with September 23. Coinjuice’s on-chain analysis also appears on Andrew’s CryptoQuant QuickTake profile.

Three things stand out:

  • Mid-size balances lead: The 1 to 10 and 10 to 100 BTC bands added 39,549 BTC combined over 30 days, more than any single band. They added another 6,442 BTC in the 24 hours to October 23, a session in which price slipped.

  • The largest chunks keep shrinking: Coins in 10,000+ BTC outputs fell by 36,824 BTC over 30 days, while the 1,000 to 10,000 band grew by 29,487 BTC. The two moves are largely offset, consistent with large holders or custodians splitting outputs. The October 21 Read on 10% a year and the $80K hedge flagged the same pattern.

  • Smaller balances thin out: The 0.01 to 0.1 and 0.1 to 1 BTC bands shed 9,794 BTC combined over 30 days, a Coinjuice calculation.

ETF flows turned negative again, led by IBIT, while coins moved into mid-size balances. UTXO bands cannot separate internal wallet moves from changes in ownership, so the table shows where coins sit, not who bought them.

For technical analysis from a wide array of analysts, see the CryptoQuant QuickTake community.

  • At or just under the 3D average: The October 23 close sat 0.02% above the 3D 20-period average, and the 05:00 UTC price of $80,831 sits about 0.3% below it. The exact level depends on how 3D bars are grouped, so the price is at the average rather than clearly holding it.

  • Daily averages lost: The close sat 2.12% below the 20-day and 0.85% below the 50-day average, with the Bollinger position near the lower band.

  • Weekly gap still open: The 20-week average remains below the 50-week. The weekly readings update after the October 25 close.

Coinjuice Lens: Bitcoin Ownership

Across the October 21 to 23 editions, ETF demand moved from a three-session run of inflows to two sessions of outflows. The supply data moved one way across the same stretch: coins flowed into the 1 to 100 BTC bands and out of the largest and smallest chunks. ETF flows turned negative again, led by IBIT, while coins moved into mid-size balances.

The next tests are the Fed decision on October 28 at 2:00 PM ET and the release of third-quarter GDP and September PCE inflation on October 29 at 8:30 AM ET. Treasury companies face a separate date on November 11. That is when MSCI is due to publish its final list of affected companies, ahead of the rule taking effect at the close of November 30, per press coverage of MSCI’s announcement. Coinjuice’s analysis of what MSCI index removal could mean for Strategy sets out what is at stake.

FAQ

Did Bitcoin ETFs record inflows or outflows on October 23, 2026?

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs lost a net USD 137.9M on October 23, per DefiLlama, a second straight outflow after the USD 635.6M exit on October 22. BlackRock’s IBIT led with USD 110.3M and Fidelity’s FBTC lost USD 31.8M, while MSBT added USD 4.2M and ARKB and GBTC were flat. Across the five sessions from October 19 to 23, the funds still added a net USD 301.2M, led by IBIT’s USD 565.7M.

Which Bitcoin balance sizes grew in the 30 days to October 23, 2026?

On CryptoQuant’s UTXO supply distribution, the 1 to 10 BTC band added 12,342 BTC and the 10 to 100 BTC band 27,207 BTC. That is a combined 39,549 BTC, more than any single band added. The 1,000 to 10,000 BTC band also grew by 29,487 BTC, while the 0.01 to 1 BTC bands shed 9,794 BTC. The bands track coin chunks, not individual owners.

Does the drop in 10,000+ BTC balances mean whales are selling?

Not on this data alone. Coins in 10,000+ BTC outputs fell by 36,824 BTC over 30 days, but the 1,000 to 10,000 band grew by 29,487 BTC over the same period. Moves that largely offset are consistent with large holders or custodians splitting big outputs into smaller ones. UTXO bands cannot separate internal wallet moves from changes in ownership.

What do Bitcoin’s moving averages show after the October 23 close?

On CryptoQuant daily closes, the October 23 close of USD 81,093 sat 2.12% below the 20-day average and 0.85% below the 50-day, but 11.30% above the 200-day. It sat 0.02% above the 3D 20-period average, with the 05:00 UTC price on October 24 about 0.3% below it. On the weekly chart, the 20-week average of USD 71,539 remains below the 50-week average of USD 76,557.
