HIVE's BUZZ HPC Appoints Hubert Marleau as Independent Director

HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd. (TSX: HIVE; Nasdaq: HIVE; BVC: HIVECO) announced on September 15, 2026, that its wholly owned subsidiary, BUZZ High Performance Computing Inc., has appointed Hubert Marleau as an independent director of the BUZZ HPC board. 

Marleau, a Canadian capital-markets veteran with more than five decades of experience, joins as the company works to scale what it describes as a sovereign AI infrastructure platform in Canada.

Marleau's Capital-Markets Background

• Governance record: Marleau has served as Governor of the Montreal and Vancouver stock exchanges, Chairman of the Toronto Stock Exchange Listing Committee, and a director of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada.

• Board experience: He has been a current or past director of more than 50 publicly traded companies in Canada and the United States, has raised public and private capital for hundreds of issuers, and has advised on numerous mergers, acquisitions, and financings, per the release.

• Operating roles: His career includes senior leadership positions at Nesbitt Thomson and Lévesque Beaubien, now part of National Bank Financial, and he served as Chairman and CEO of Marleau Lemire Securities.

• Current positions: Marleau is currently Chairman and CEO of Nio Strategic Metals Inc. and Market Economist at Palos, where he writes the weekly Palos Perspective. He holds an Honours degree in Economics from the University of Ottawa and established the Marleau Lecture Series on Economic and Monetary Policy there in 2019.

Executive Commentary

Frank Holmes, Executive Chairman of HIVE and BUZZ HPC, said he has known Marleau for 40 years and valued his "candor and independent judgment," and linked that perspective to the company's work scaling sovereign AI infrastructure in Canada with Bell.

Aydin Kilic, HIVE's President and CEO and a BUZZ HPC director, said scaling AI infrastructure requires disciplined governance, capital allocation, and accountability, and that Marleau's experience strengthens the board.

Craig Tavares, BUZZ HPC's President and COO, described the company as an original signatory to Canada's Responsible Data Centre Development Principles and said Marleau's appointment reflects the direction BUZZ HPC is headed.

Marleau said AI compute is becoming strategic economic infrastructure and that Canada has an opportunity to build and control more of that infrastructure domestically.
